Learning Watch
Does Learning Watch work on this network?
Open this on a school device, on school Wi-Fi. It tests each site Learning Watch needs, then plays one test video when you press the button. The results stay on this screen: nothing is sent to Learning Watch or anyone else.

Playback test
A site can be reachable and still be filtered, so this plays a real video in the same YouTube player class pages use: Body Tissues (the 4 Types) by Amoeba Sisters, muted.

For IT: why allowing these is OK
- YouTube itself stays blocked. Allowing the embed player does not open youtube.com: no YouTube search, home feed, recommendations, Shorts, comments or channel browsing.
- www.youtube-nocookie.com is YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed player. Google says views in it are not used to personalize the viewer’s YouTube experience or the ads they see elsewhere.
- *.googlevideo.com only serves video data through signed links that expire, issued to a player. There is nothing on it to browse.
- i.ytimg.com serves thumbnail images.
- YouTube videos embedded in Google Classroom, Google Slides, Edpuzzle and Nearpod play from the same video and image servers, and www.youtube-nocookie.com is the privacy-enhanced version of the same embed player, so many districts already allow most of this.
- On Learning Watch, students can only find and play videos a teacher approved. It has no student accounts and collects no student data.
- The caveat: with hostname-only filtering, a student who types
youtube-nocookie.com/embed/plus a video ID could play any embeddable video (still with no search or feed). A narrower rule closes that; the IT page has it.
